43,000 pounds of beer spills on I-85

WSOC_TV -- GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A crew spent more than five hours Friday night cleaning up 43,000 pounds of beer from Interstate 85.
A crash caused a semi-truck carrying tons of beer to crash into a bridge on the interstate.

"It's a miracle nobody was injured, only scrapes and bruises," said J.R. Smith of the Gaston County Police.

Officers said a car drove onto the interstate at Bessemer City Road, lost control in the rain, and spun around facing south. The 18-wheeler hit it head-on.

The driver of the truck was able to loosen his seat belt and climb out of the cab.

"I had a 40th birthday yesterday and it really just scared the daylight out of me," said Jessie Cabiness.

He said he didn't see the crash coming.

"I just felt something hit the truck and I went over into the left lane,"
