A spike in gas prices predicted

WQOW -- Motorists may want to top off their tank. An oil analyst is predicting a spike at the pump.

Patrick DeHaan, an analyst with GasBuddy.com, says he expects a majority of gas stations in Wisconsin to increase prices anywhere from 10 to 35 cents by Friday night.

Here are the reasons for the potential spike: DeHaan says there was a shutdown of a pipeline that delivers crude oil from Canada to Chicago along with problems at three regional refineries. The price at the pump has been $3.72 a gallon in Eau Claire.

Right now, oil is trading at about $89 a barrel. In recent years, we've seen it trade at that level when the price of gas was much lower, about a dollar lower. WQOW News 18 asked DeHaan why we haven't seen cheaper prices at the pump with oil trading between $80 and $90 for much of

gas spiked here a total of 26 cents a gallon and I live in Northwest , TN apparently this gave them an excuse to raise the price!

Prices jumped 45 cents within the past 4 days in the Milwaukee area, and it is predicted that prices could increase 16 cents more by tomorrow.

I don't think its limited to certain areas. My local Shell station jumped from $3.73 to $4.19 in a couple of days.

Prices here are up by 10 cents a gallon from yesterday at many stations as well, but not all of them just yet. It's topping out about where I had figured it would, between $3.45 and $3.59 a gallon around here.

Follow the bouncing gas prices. We have already jumped 0.20 this week, and according to a GB alert expect it to jump another 0.20 T 0.30 cents.

CDMAuto, where exactly does greed come into the picture here? It's called (anticipated) supply & demand. You always have the choice of not buying any gas whatsoever.
