It's worse in the summer, too. See a lot of tread on the side of the road.

Common around here when it gets to 100+ degrees for tires to blow.

Once you've had a blow-out, you know the feeling. Don't ignor your it.

Most probably only check tire pressure if it looks low.

I don't practice it as much as I should, but it's a good idea to walk around your car and check tires, lights, etc. once a week or so, or when you get gasoline. Also good to check tread depth and check for even tread wear.

Didn't think I would learn anything new from this article, but I did! I didn't know that the week and year in which tires are made is part of the numbers on the tire. Cool!
"If you don't know how old your tires are, there's a way to check. There are 4 numbers on your tire, they tell you which week of which year they were made."

Check your tires and know the proper inflation. Dont be one of those idiots that fills the tires to the sidewall max pressure.

Good tips however, I live in north Oklahoma City where the hail destroyed roofs everywhere. The shingle nails are everywhere from the hauling off the replaced roofs. My roof was replaced yesterday, tons of roofers everywhere.

When I see a little nail on the road I try to swerve around it without hitting the vehicles beside me.

I've found rental cars to be big offenders with under inflation. And there's nothing more frustrating than looking for air when traveling away from home for a car that isn't even your own.

Good advice.
Check tires regularly.
Know the age of your tire.
Not all that hard.
But many are listening to mind blowing iTunes!

Discount Tires offers a free air check to all at their stores. Personally, I've shopped around and I get the best out-the-door deal with free lifetime balancing at Discount Tires.

In a nation addicted to drive-through everything, when is anyone actually going to get out of their motorized Laz-y-Boys and actually DO something as simple as check their tire pressure, by themselves? Ain't gonna happen...

Never drive around on worn tires. Once a tire(s) are worn out, they must be replaced for safety reasons. It isn't worth saving money b driving around on tires with little or no useful tread remaining.

With the tight economy, many drivers are scrimping on maintenance and will even drive around on worn tires.
